Delhi, 7 December The BJP’s 15-year hegemony in the famous municipal corporation was ended by the Aam Aadmi Party on Wednesday with 134 seats, leaving the Congress with only nine seats in a house of 250.
An overjoyed Arvind Kejriwal promised to improve civic services in the capital city in his first speech following the victory, and he asked for the “blessings” of the Centre and PM Narendra Modi to accomplish this goal.
The Congress was only able to win nine municipal wards, down from 30 in the previous civic election. The BJP, which was expected to suffer a major setback in exit polls, put up a valiant battle and won 104 municipal wards. Additionally, three independents were successful.
